It is my distinct pleasure to welcome you to the Association of Minority Health Professions Schools (AMHPS). The culmination of this redesigned website coincides with months of internal restructuring and strategic planning. This website is but one of the outward signs of the significant growth and progress the AMHPS has made in recent years. In the coming months more changes will come which will place the AMHPS in a better position to serve.

Please take your time to browse our website and become more acquainted with the AMHPS. We have created a very user friendly vehicle that will serve as an instrument to connect academia, government, students, community members and other supporters who have an interest in:

• Promoting and supporting research that contributes to the advancement of knowledge and treatment of diseases, disabilities and adverse health problems that disproportionately or differentially affect minority groups;

• Furthering public education to prevent health problems and promoting healthy lifestyles among African-American and other minority underserved populations;

• Identifying and facilitating new directions in minority health by supporting scholarly exchange of scientific and clinical knowledge;

• Facilitating an increase in the representation and recognition of under-represented minorities in the professions of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, veterinary medicine, biomedical sciences and other health professions; and

• Supporting efforts that improve the quality and availability of health care to minority and underserved populations.

For over two decades, the Association of Minority Health Professions Schools (AMHPS) has been at the national forefront of increasing the diversity of the medical and health related professions by creating education opportunities to foster recruitment, retention and development of African-American and other under-represented minorities as faculty and researchers. We also have a long standing history of expanding the national and international knowledge base of environmental health concerns in the African-American and other underserved communities through scientific research conducted at our member institutions.
