Research
The AMHPS’
member institutions are located in minority
communities and have years of experience
networking and developing rapport with
people of the community. This relationship
has developed a level of trust which is not
enjoyed by the scientific community-at-large
or the federal government. AMHPS
institutions are thus, uniquely poised to
capitalize on this resource as a means of
becoming more involved in clinical trials,
populations-genetics studies or any studies
involving ethical issues related to genetic
or other diseases.
The research projects of participating AMHPS
institutions have significantly increased
the scientific information base and
contributed to improved health status. In
addition, AMHPS’ institutions research has
resulted in a stronger infrastructure to
meet the unique public health needs of
underserved communities.
